In late September and early August of 2021, I managed to finally take a significant vacation after a year and a half of the COVID-19 sands continually shifting under the feet of my organization, its various projects and my role among them. I had no plans… certainly no plan to complete my 13th Album or EP since COVID (2 of them, Wedge and American Martyrs were started before COVID). But that’s what happened.

Aside from “Notifications” (which I started on a few days before my vacation) and “I Didn’t Do It” (which I started while on my vacation, and initially had lyrics, which are still submerged in the composition in one way or another), the rest of the songs were started concurrent with what became my last two albums (En Train and Mes Godasses… both of which, like this album, contain collaborations with my friend and long-time collaborator Jason Riis).

These songs didn’t fit with the songs on those earlier albums, and they didn’t all initially fit together on this album either, but I slowly developed the resolve and action needed to work with them over my vacation until they did work together.

Initially this album was going to be called “Variation Delta” and the cover was going to feature another COVID-era light-related photo from my friend MiKelly. Instead it got a pre-COVID MiKelly photo and the apt French (like the other two albums) title.
